Middle Britain feels pinch - The Mail on Sunday
Britain's middle classes are taking a bleak view of the state of the economy, with the vast majority believing things will take a turn for the worse over the next six months.
The MidBritain Report from the British Market Research Bureau shows that 89 per cent had felt the rise in the cost of living and 68 per cent thought the outlook for house prices was bad.
Two-thirds of those surveyed said they were very uncomfortable with the size of their fuel bills, suggesting even the middle classes were hard hit by rising prices.
BMRB’s quarterly survey covered 1,600 people and is commissioned by Associated Newspapers – publisher of The Mail on Sunday.
